PVC Grinding
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a thermoplastic polymer and, together with Polyethylene and Polypropylene, is one of the three main polymers for the production of plastics. Without additives, pure PVC is a white brittle solid. The rigid PVC is used in piping, window frames, bottles or vinyl records. With the addition of plasticizers soft / flexible PVC is produced. This can be used as a rubber replacement, in cable sheathing or flooring.
About 40 million tons of PVC are produced each year. To reduce the negative impact on the environment, recycling systems for PVC have been implemented in many countries. For the mechanical recycling of PVC, the collected PVC waste is pre-crushed into granules for a good separation of materials and then micronized on a Universal Mill to create a fine PVC dust (often < 300 µm).
Cutting Mills, Roller Mills and Universal Mills
A high number of Bauermeister mills are in operation for the micronization of recycled PVC all around the world. Depending on the required product fineness and output rate an optimal combination of milling parameters is available. These can be determined in trial grindings in our Technology Center. The decision for one of the many different grinding plant variations depends on the general conditions as well as the requirements of the customer. Bauermeister specialists will gladly assist you in the assessment of these characteristics and help choose the correct mill and plant type that matches your requirements.
