Instant Coffee Grinding
Instant coffee is a fast-soluble coffee extract in granulate form. The first instant coffee was developed as early as 1938 by Nestlé with the focus on quick preparation and longer shelf life. Other manufacturers were added later. The production process of instant coffee is complex and shown in the following flowchart. While the bean roasting does not differ significantly, the coffee for instant coffee production is usually ground to a coarser particle size than the commercially available powdered coffee.
Universal Mills, Gap Mills and Air Classifiers
Many Bauermeister mills are established all around the world for the grinding of instant coffee. For every type of instant coffee there is an optimal combination of mill parameters depending on the desired fineness. In most cases Universal Mills equipped with a Turbo rotor with varying sieves and mill speeds are installed for instant coffee grinding. The right mill setup and integration of the mill into a production plant depend on the general conditions as well as on the individual requirements of every plant operator. For the evaluation of the criteria Bauermeister specialists are available for a competent consultation.
